“THE OAKRIDGE STORY”

A Virtual Presentation
Saturday, October 3rd ~ 10:00am to 11:30am

Friends of Oakridge invites you to join us for “The Oakridge Story”, an overview of the history of the Oakridge Estate from its inception in 1936, as Barbara Stanwyck’s Marwyck Ranch, to its present status as City of Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #484.

This narrated presentation will be told through the use of archival photographs, aerial images and vintage maps, as well as newspaper clippings, brochures, advertisements and magazine covers from the period.

The presentation will also include a “sneak peek” at the current conditions of the home and grounds.  The program will conclude with a panel of Oakridge docents answering your questions about the rich history of the property and ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the residence and surrounding landscape.

We look forward to seeing you, virtually!

DONATE TO COMPLETE
THE  OAKRIDGE ESTATE
REAR YARD LANDSCAPING

In collaboration with the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks, Friends of Oakridge looks forward to offering tours and events when it is again safe.  During this extended hiatus, we continue to explore preservation and programming.   Our first 10 years' accomplishments include providing docent led tours for  4,300 visitors, helping to locate funding for a badly needed roof, driveway and 32 additional parking spaces, and, with your help, funding front yard irrigation and landscaping.

Last year, your generous donations enabled Friends to plant 7 impressive oaks in the rear yard, replacing trees planted by Barbara Stanwyck in 1937, then lost by disease and drought.

Please help Friends celebrate our first 10 years  with a simple “Birthday Gift”.  Your tax-deductible contribution of $10 to mark each year, or $20 or more, will help us complete the rear yard landscaping.  Especially when social distancing is critical, Friends looks forward to offering outdoor events.

Friends of Oakridge is a 501 c (3) charitable organization, EIN #45-1626582.  All donations are deemed tax deductible absent any limitations on deductibility applicable to a particular taxpayer.  No goods or services were provided for your contribution.
